Antique Red Rice Bucket

Also Called "Dou" in Chinese,  Ancient China Standard unit of measurement for certain amount of grain or rice.  1 dou approximately equivalent to 10.35 Litres.

This is a fabulous antique Chinese grain measure, from the early 1900's This Chinese basket is made from cyprus and dovetailed at the seams.  Basket and wooden handle are reinforced with primitive, decorative hammered metal strips  & staples.

Basket is in sturdy condition and will look fabulous when displayed. Antique basket shows some signs of age, wear on handle, knicks and bumps and a couple minor cracks.   Metal pieces have age appropriate patina.

This rice bucket features a wooden body with metal fasteners for strength.
