Chinese Bed  can be classified into three types:   Day beds, Luohan bed, and Wedding Bed also called Canopy bed.  

 

Beds without railings are called day beds by Chinese craftsmen, these day Westerners are using them as large coffee tables.   Beds with back and side railings are known as Luohan Beds. Canopy beds can be with post or without posted at corners.  Footstools were usually placed in front of Ming dynasty beds. The Framed beds are built suprisingly firm and solid without use of any nails.
